I thought today I’d share the extract for Feb 2nd from the daily devotional book I wrote, ‘Soul Fuel’.
It deals with the innate need we have as humans to ‘find our purpose’.

WE ALL WANT TO find our purpose in something. It's just the way we're made. Look around and you can see the different places that people go searching for meaning for their lives. Some hunt down more wealth; others crave power or influence.
But our real nature is never determined by this kind of 'success'. The only way we truly know why we're here (and the only true source of real and lasting hope in this life) is in knowing to whom we belong and how precious we are to the Almighty.
Those who put their hope in Jesus 'can no longer die; for they are like the angels.
“They are God's children, since they are children of the resurrection.”
-Luke 20:36
I have experienced that incredible sense of purpose of being found in Christ, and it changes everything. We know we are truly loved; we find home, peace and strength; we draw on His resources; and we reach out in love to all those we come into contact with.
That's a purpose that can follow us all through our lives and that will lead us to glory.
Most of us find our sense of purpose in the people we love.
In wanting to provide.
To protect.
To stand steady for them when life gets tough.
And that’s a good instinct. It’s human. It’s strong.
But I’ve learned something over the years, in the wild and in life: if your purpose only rests on others, it can shake when the storm hits. And storms always come.
So we have to grow our roots deeper.
We need a bedrock.
Something inside us that holds fast when everything else moves.
Values. Faith. Character. Quiet resolve.
Because when you build strength there first, you don’t just survive the hard days. You become someone others can lean on.
And maybe that’s the point.
We steady ourselves, so we can steady the people we love.
Strong within.
So we can be strong for others.
I remember in my early 20s watching every episode of Man vs Wild one summer. What stayed with me most was how positive, calm, centered, and at peace you were at night, even when everything around you was the opposite.
The way you spoke about your family and your faith really stuck with me. That sense of calm was something I thought about long after the seasons ended.

If we want to realise our true purpose we must first submit to the Lord and he will show us the way we should go.
There is a yearning, a God given desire to use our skills in the best way possible.
Some of us find our calling early in life but some of us will need to listen more to the Lord’s leading.
He says that we should trust Him and He will give us our hearts desires - our God given purpose.
